Leigh Dawney boxing photographer was commissioned by The Times newspaper to be present ringside to witness the Amir Khan vs Lamont Peterson fight at the Washington Convention Centre, Washington, USA.

A series of photos appeared in the newspaper to accompany the extensive editorial.

Possibly the fight of the year? What did you think? Two determined boxers dominated the evening’s entertainment at London’s York Hall, Bethnal Green. A show promoted by Matchroom Sport. The fight went all twelve rounds with both boxers trading punches. Purdy seemed to be at his best in the earlier rounds, however the more experienced Lynes overall out classed out his opponent going on to claim the British Welterweight Title. Click to view slideshow. Ricky Burns claimed the Interim WBO Lightweight Title after defeating Michael Katsidis following a twelve round battle. Unanimous points decided the outcome in Burns’s favour.

George Groves defended his British and Commonwelath Super Middleweight Titles by defeating Paul Smith. The referee called time in he second round after Smith was knocked down and deemed unfit to continue.

Billy Joe Saunders Claimed victory by defeating Gary Boulden winning the Southern Area Middleweight Title.

Another fantastic event run by Matchroom Sport at the home of British boxing, York Hall, Bethnal Green, London. With a prize fund of £32,000 the stakes were high, the competition tight, with moments of desperation from all boxers as they tasted the glory and status of becoming Prizefighter. The competition with four quarter finals, two semi finals and the penultimate final, found it’s new Featherweight Prizefighter champion, 40 year old Choi Tseveenpurev from Mongolia who defeated a brave and considerably younger 22 year old Rhys Roberts. For me the boxer of the night was George Jupp who put up a brave fight in all of his bouts, but fell short in semi final one.

An electric atmosphere last night at the Premier suite, Reebok Stadium, Bolton, the main event, pedigree boxer Jason Booth defending his Super Bantamweight Title against the younger and unbeaten Scott Quigg. www.frankmaloney.com Both fighters showed true grit throughout the battle, but Booth clearly accepting his opponent dominated the rounds, called time at the end of the seventh where Quigg went to claim the title. The undercard featured Kerry Hope beating Tony Hill in a 10×3 minute round contest for the British Middleweight Eliminator. A fantastic debut night for television’s new dedicated boxing channel Boxnation.tv who covered some spectacular boxing at London’s York Hall, Bethnal Green. The main event was Liam Walsh vs Paul Appleby. The two warriors that showed off their skills during exhilarating bouts with explosive action, seeing both boxers being knocked down. By the end, Liam Walsh was victorious claiming The Commonwealth Super-Featherweight Championship.

The supporting fight Steve O’Meara vs Ryan Toms, saw O’Meara defeating Toms by way of knockout, claiming The Southern Area Light-Middleweight Championship.
